More than 20 members of Congress, led by Congressman Josh Brecheen, have sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi requesting a criminal investigation into Special Counsel Jack Smith and his role in Operation Arctic Frost. The lawmakers allege that the operation involved covert surveillance on Republican elected officials, which they say constitutes a violation of the Fourth Amendment.

In the letter, the lawmakers call for an inquiry into what they describe as unauthorized searches and seizures carried out under direct orders from Jack Smith during Operation Arctic Frost. According to their statement, “the Biden Administration used Operation Arctic Frost to target its political opponents by authorizing covert surveillance on elected members of the Republican Party. We cannot let the Biden Administration and Special Counsel Jack Smith get away with this direct violation of the Constitution.”

The group joining Brecheen includes Representatives August Pfluger (R-TX), Byron Donalds (R-FL), Tim Burchett (R-TN), Tony Wied (R-WI), Michael Rulli (R-OH), Mary Miller (R-IL), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Diana Harshbarger (R-TN), Brian Babin (R-TX), Ronny Jackson (R-TX), Addison McDowell (R-NC), Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Keith Self (R-TX), Ralph Norman (R-SC), Jimmy Patronis (R-FL), Russell Fry (R-SC), John McGuire (R-VA), Buddy Carter (R-GA), Mark Harris (R-NC), Greg Stube (R-FL), Wesley Hunt (R-TX), Mike Collins (R-GA), John Rose (R-TN), Glenn Grothman (R-WI) and Andrew Clyde (R-GA).

The background information provided by these lawmakers states that President Biden’s Department of Justice conducted Operation Arctic Frost to monitor nine Republican Members of Congress. They claim that during this operation, FBI agents accessed phone records and location data without proper authorization.

Josh Brecheen is currently serving in the U.S. Congress as the representative for Oklahoma’s 2nd district. He began his term in 2023 after replacing Markwayne Mullin and previously served in the Oklahoma Senate from 2010 to 2018. Born in Ada, Oklahoma in 1979, Brecheen now lives in Coalgate and graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science degree.
