Congressman Josh Brecheen, who represents Oklahoma’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently voiced concerns on social media about national safety and government priorities.
On October 16, 2025, Brecheen posted on his X account: “California must start prioritizing the safety of Americans!”
Later that same day, he questioned the focus of Democratic lawmakers with another post: “Why do the Democrats think promoting feminism in Africa is more important than the wellbeing of America??? Reopen the government, @SenSchumer!” This message was directed at Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer amid ongoing negotiations over a government shutdown.
On October 17, Brecheen marked the length of the federal shutdown with a brief statement: “#SchumerShutdown Day 17”.
Josh Brecheen has represented Oklahoma’s 2nd District in Congress since 2023 and previously served in the Oklahoma Senate from 2010 to 2018. Born in Ada, Oklahoma in 1979 and currently residing in Coalgate, Brecheen earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1997.
The posts come as part of an extended debate over federal spending and priorities during a prolonged government shutdown. Lawmakers remain divided over issues including domestic policy and foreign aid programs.
