Congressman Josh Brecheen, who represents Oklahoma’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has criticized Senate Democrats and their leadership over ongoing government funding negotiations in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter).
On September 30, 2025, Brecheen accused Senate Democrats of causing a potential government shutdown due to disagreements with Republicans over spending demands. He wrote, “.@SenSchumer and Senate Democrats are shutting down the government simply because Republicans are refusing their expensive demands. Later that day, Brecheen commented on actions taken by House Republicans regarding a continuing resolution (CR) to keep the government open. He stated on September 30: “.@HouseGOP did our job by passing a clean CR and the Senate Democrats should pass it just like they did several months ago. Josh Brecheen has served as Oklahoma’s 2nd District representative since 2023 after succeeding Markwayne Mullin. Prior to his current role in Congress, he was a member of the Oklahoma Senate from 2010 to 2018. Born in Ada, Oklahoma in 1979 and currently residing in Coalgate, Brecheen earned his bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1997.
