Congressman Josh Brecheen, who represents Oklahoma’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on November 5 and 6, 2025, addressing the ongoing government shutdown and the responsibilities of lawmakers.
On November 5, Brecheen referenced the duration of the government shutdown with “#SchumerShutdown Day 36 https://t.co/XQhttbo7XJ”. Later that day, he stated his views on congressional duties: “Doing what’s best for the American people should be the goal of every Member of Congress. https://t.co/v074J4Pcf6”.
The following morning, on November 6, Brecheen continued to highlight the length of the shutdown with another post: “#SchumerShutdown Day 37 https://t.co/XGvzmWNbyU”.
Josh Brecheen has represented Oklahoma’s 2nd District in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Markwayne Mullin. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the Oklahoma Senate from 2010 to 2018. Born in Ada, Oklahoma in 1979 and currently residing in Coalgate, Brecheen earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1997.
