Congressman Josh Brecheen, who represents Oklahoma’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of messages on his social media account addressing both national remembrance and local outreach.
On August 26, 2025, Brecheen commemorated the anniversary of the deaths of American service members during the Afghanistan withdrawal. He wrote, “Four years ago, terrorists murdered 13 American heroes who were helping with civilian evacuation efforts during the Biden Administration’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan. May we always remember their sacrifice, and may the peace of the Lord be with their families.”
Later that day, Brecheen announced a series of town hall meetings across several Oklahoma towns: “Okmulgee, Claremore, Tahlequah, Stilwell, and Sallisaw! We’re hosting townhalls on Wednesday–see you there! For times and locations: https://t.co/pMr8T6gAqE https://t.co/gDmn991M4P”
In a subsequent post on August 26th, he expressed appreciation for constituents’ participation at an earlier event: “Thank you to everyone from McAlester who came to our Monday town hall!”
Josh Brecheen has served as U.S. Representative for Oklahoma’s 2nd District since 2023 after succeeding Markwayne Mullin. Before joining Congress, he was a member of the Oklahoma Senate between 2010 and 2018. Born in Ada in 1979 and currently residing in Coalgate, Brecheen is also an alumnus of Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
