Congressman Josh Brecheen, who represents Oklahoma’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media reflecting on the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk and the anniversary of September 11th.
On September 10, 2025, Brecheen wrote: “May God’s mercy and comfort be with Charlie’s beautiful family, his wife, and precious children.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18

The following day, marking the anniversary of the September 11 attacks, he posted: “As America continues to mourn the assassination of Charlie Kirk, we are reminded of yet another tragic day in American history: September 11th, 2001.
Today we pray for all those who have lost family and friends to terrorism, for everyone who has given their life in service to https://t.co/MWMdmGL6k1“.
Later on September 11th, Brecheen shared a personal reflection referencing Charles Spurgeon: “Over the last several hours I have found myself repeatedly turning to this Charles Spurgeon quote which hangs on my office wall: “You cannot cast out Satan by Satan, nor correct error by violence, nor overcome hate by hate. The conquering weapon of the Christian is love.”
Josh Brecheen has served as a member of Congress since replacing Markwayne Mullin in 2023. Before joining Congress, he represented his district in the Oklahoma Senate from 2010 to 2018. Born in Ada, Oklahoma in 1979 and currently residing in Coalgate at age 43, Brecheen graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1997.
