Brigadier General Douglas S. Lowrey will be returning to Rogers State University to talk to students about the opportunities and benefits of a career in Federal Civilian Service. A former Rogers State University student himself, General Lowrey’s address will highlight his experiences in the military and the opportunities available to civilians as contract specialists.
The U.S. Federal Civil Service is the civilian workforce of the United States federal government’s departments and agencies. Federal civilian employees are provided with outstanding benefits and opportunities for advancement. Salaries for these positions begin at $44,470 per year and, with built-in promotions each year for the first two years, to a salary of at least $66,214 after the two-year training period. Human Resources personnel will be on hand to provide information and take resumes.
“There are great opportunities available in federal civil service – opportunities that many people are unaware of, but ones which Gen. Lowrey will be sharing during his time back on campus,” said Barry Clark of RSU Student Affairs. Gen. Lowrey will address students at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27th in Room 227 at Herrington Hall and will be Zoomed to classrooms BR731 in Bartlesville and PR109 in Pryor. This event also will be available to the public to watch on Zoom.
Gen. Lowrey is the commanding general of the Mission and Installation Contracting Command (MICC) at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The MICC, a subordinate command to the U.S. Army Contracting Command, is comprised of 1,200 civilian and 300 uniformed military acquisition and support professionals, providing Army commands, installations and activities with responsive business solutions and contracting administration.
