Rogers State baseball (12-5, 2-4 MIAA) knocked off No. 10  Central Oklahoma (14-3, 5-1 MIAA) with a 5-3 win in the series finale on Monday.

The Bronchos got on the board first with a run in the top of the first. The run came in as a batter grounded into a double play with the bases loaded. They added another run in the second off a RBI single to go up 2-0.

The Hillcats responded in the bottom of the third with three runs to take their first lead of the day at 3-2. Gavin Mestas and Joel Escalante both walked with two outs to put runners on first and second. On a 1-0 pitch, Prescott Horn unloaded on a ball, driving it over the left center field wall to clear the bases.

Both pitching staffs settled in for the next three innings only allowing a combined two hits and no runs.

UCO tied things up at 3-3 in the top of the seventh. A RBI single to center brought home a run from second.

RSU answered back in the home half of the frame to retake the lead 4-3. Mitchell Smith led off the inning with a single through the left side of the infield. Marco Barrera followed that up with a single to left. Carson Cheatwood reached on a fielder’s choice bunt to leave runners at first and second with one out. Gavin Mestas drove in Barrera with a RBI single to left center.

The Hillcats tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth to secure the 5-3 win. Horn was inches away from going yard for the second time on the day as he doubled off the top of the left center field wall to lead off the frame. Jesse Holguin traded places with him with a RBI double down the left field line.

Colton Anderson (2-0) earned the win coming out of the bullpen and worked 3.0 innings only allowing one run and scattered two hits with a strikeout. Octavio Sanchez (5) earned the save throwing the final 1.1 innings without allowing a run with one hit and a strikeout. With the save, he is now tied for the lead in saves in all of Division II. Caleb Burchfield (0-1) took the loss.
