Rogers State men's soccer's Trindon Turner and Declan Viljoen have earned GAC/MIAA Player of the Week honors for the final week of the regular season, the league announced on Tuesday.
A product, Edmond, Okla., Trindon Turner was named Defender of the Week after leading the Hillcat defense to a 1-0-1 record and their third and four consecutive shutouts on the road last week. On Thursday, Turner helmed the RSU defense that held Fort Hays State to only four shots on goal, 13 shots total, in a scoreless draw. In the regular season finale on Saturday, he anchored the Hillcat defense as they kept their shutout streak alive with their four-straight clean sheet in the 5-0 win over Newman. Turner led a defense that held the Jets to just two shots on goal, four total shots.
Declan Viljoen earned Goalkeeper of the Week honors for the third time this season. In the draw with the Tigers, the Auckland, New Zealand native notched his fifth shutout of the season making three saves on 13 shots faced. Against the Jets, Viljoen earned a combined shutout with two saves on three shots faced and lowered his goals against average to .867, a league best.
