Rogers State University in Pryor will be hosting a practical workshop to give future innovators the opportunity to come up with new ideas, concepts and solutions for problems when starting a new venture.
RSU’s Ideation Workshop will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, on RSU’s Pryor campus.
During the workshop, attendees will start the evening by brainstorming problem statements and by the end of the evening, pitch a “prototyped” solution to those problems to the room.
“This is a grant-funded collaboration with the Center on Rural Innovation (CORI), MidAmerica Industrial Park (MAIP), Northeast Tech and Rogers State University,” said Dr. Mary A. Millikin, RSU associate vice president for academic affairs. “Students and employees interested in starting a new venture – preferably one involving technology or a digital innovation – are especially encouraged to attend.”
Examples of innovative ideas might include a new smart phone app, new software, or a new website.
Millikin said the evening will be like “Shark Tank” in that innovators will be allowed to “pitch” their ideas, with the best innovators earning a hosting space and resources to develop their concept.
This event is free and open to anyone interested, but seating is limited so registration is strongly encouraged. No experience or special training is required.
Rogers State University is the only university serving the Pryor and Mayes County area. On average, more than 350 students attend the RSU Pryor campus each semester. The campus has both regular and compressed video classes, a computer lab, testing center and science laboratories.
