Women's Basketball concluded their 2022-2023 season on Saturday, March 18th here in Bartlesville with a tribute to the 22'-23' senior class.

The Lady Eagles ended the year 8-20 overall and 7-15 in conference play; one spot away from a conference tournament spot.

HIGHLIGHTS

Entering the season with a completely new coaching staff, the women's basketball program looked to rebuild and grow in every aspect of the game.

Welcoming Head Coach Heidi Messer, assistant coach Taneisha Aeschleman, and graduate assistant Brittany Wood; the Lady Eagles began their season and adapted throughout the year.

Beginning their season in Bartlesville, the Lady Eagles hosted 3 other teams and went 1-1 at the OKWU Classic.

Entering regular season conference play, the Lady Eagles began conference play with a 68-58 win over the Southwestern College Moundbuilders and were hopeful looking forward. After a 7-game losing streak, the Lady Eagles came to life on the court and had a complete turnaround; winning the next 5 of 7 games against KCAC competitors.

Two Lady Eagles received KCAC All-conference recognitions; Sydnee Schovanec and Zariah Tillman. Both Lady Eagles were named to the All-KCAC Honorable Mention team for their performance throughout the regular season on the court. The two individuals were solid on the court for the Lady Eagles and contributed highly to their success this season.

Along with Tillman & Schovanec, senior guard River Jeffries was an absolute force for the Lady Eagles. She led the Lady Eagles on the court and had the best year of her career so far, outdoing her previous year stats and giving competitors a hard time not only in the paint, but beyond the arc, and defensively as well.

The Lady Eagles graduated 3 seniors this year; Sydnee Schovanec, Cierra Johnson, and Grace Barrett. All three ladies contributed greatly to the women's basketball program and will be missed as they move on to their next chapter.

Not only did the Lady Eagles have two ladies recognized by the KCAC, but they had a great year in the classroom as well with 7 athletes named All-KCAC Scholar Athletes.

The Lady Eagles look forward to the season to come and are excited to get back out on the court as soon as possible.

COACHES REMARKS

"I've said since pre-season this was going to be a year of success by committee. Although we didn't have the consistent results we had hoped for, I think we experienced a lot of growth and had the opportunity to see several players rise up into roles bigger than what they've had in the past. I'm excited about the foundation we have laid and the opportunities ahead of us as we move forward."
