Corporal Cody Lemmons was born in Bartlesville Oklahoma and grew up in Copan on his family’s small farm/ranch. He graduated from Copan High School in 2006 and attended several colleges after high school. He first attended Bacone College in Muskogee on a football scholarship, then transferred to Coffeyville Community College on a bullfighting scholarship. He then later in life, attended Tulsa Community College and Rogers State University.
Lemmons began his law enforcement career in 2015 at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, where he served as a Corrections officer in the jail. He joined BPD in March of 2016 and graduated the CLEET basic academy in July of 2016. He is a Law Enforcement Driver Training Instructor, a SOT operator/member, K9 handler, K9 Coordinator, Community Impact Team Officer, and is cross deputized with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Corporal Lemmons has had several officers that he has looked up to throughout different stages in his career. Lemmons states, “Lt. Fouts was very helpful in the early stages of my career. Because I was drawn to narcotic enforcement, I found myself following former Drug Task Force Officer Sgt. Steven Silver around to learn how he did things. Captain Ward taught me a great deal while on CIT by working drug investigations (Search warrants, seizures, etc) and developing me into a supervisory role to assist others as Capt. Ward assisted me. Captain Newell has always been a positive role model to me in the department. Capt. Newell allowed me to form into the K9 Handler and Officer I am today. He has always been supportive and offers constructive criticism to better myself. My grandpa, Danny Lemmons, has always been my biggest fan. He never missed a ball game or event I competed in. I look up to him and strive to make him proud”.
When asked what he likes about working for the Bartlesville Police Department, Lemmons stated, “I like having a direct impact on the problems within the city that I reside. BPD has allowed me the freedom and opportunity to work the areas I find most interesting. I love working narcotics. Catching drug organizations or dealers that supply poison within our city is a big deal to me. Drug use often leads to death or a life of criminal activity to support their habit. Disrupting the flow of narcotics in our community has a ripple effect to other crime”.
Corporal Lemmons has been married to his wife and best friend Jacqueline for almost 7 years. Their animals are their children, Swag (Pitbull) and K9 Officer Duco (Belgian Malinois). His hobbies include fishing, riding side by sides, going to the dunes, working in the garage and playing Call of Duty.
