Washington, D.C. – Congressman Josh Brecheen and Senator Ted Budd (R-NC) sent a follow-up letter to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) after the agency failed to respond to a May 2023 letter demanding answers after two young people committed suicide during an NIH-funded transgender study.
The taxpayer-funded study evaluated the psychosocial effects of cross-sex hormones on “transgender and nonbinary youth” and included children as young as 12-years-old.
“The American people are rightly demanding transparency and answers from NIH about why it is spending our taxpayer dollars on dangerous, far-Left studies that threaten the health and safety of young people. We have given NIH more than two months to respond, what is it trying to hide?” said Congressman Josh Brecheen.
“The federal government should not be funding studies that encourage gender transition interventions on young people. The NIH’s failure to respond to our official inquiry is further evidence of their cavalier attitude towards the use of taxpayer dollars to conduct highly questionable experiments,” said Senator Ted Budd.
