Oklahoma Wesleyan University Women's Soccer Ranks #6 in Latest NAIA National Coaches Poll

OVERVIEW

Previously raked #7, the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Women's Soccer team remains strong and consistent throughout the previous 12 games. With the last 2 wins, the Lady Eagles were reranked by the NAIA National Coaches Poll at #6; this being the highest team ranking in OKWU women's soccer HISTORY.

HIGHLIGHTS

The Lady Eagles are currently 12-0 overall and 7-0 in KCAC play.

Outscoring their opponents 81-1, the Lady Eagles have accumulated 11 shutouts throughout the last 12 games; only allowing 1 goal and limiting their opponents to a .08 shooting percentage.

Senior, Laura Maria has led the Lady Eagles offensively in every category. With 33 of the 81 goals, Maria has an impressive .740 shots on goal percentage, .452 shooting percentage, and has 12 assists. Maria has been named the NAIA National Player of the Week 3 times this season, as well as KCAC player of the week!

Along with Maria, Naroa Domenech & Joelle Meister create an overall strong offense for the Lady Eagles.

In the box for the Lady Eagles, Nerea Mora has been a force. Only allowing 1 goal, she accumulated a total of 28 saves. To help her defensively, Faith Mosaira, Sarah Evans, and Martina Cordova have been outstanding for the Lady Eagles.

 

COACHES REMARKS

Head Coach Ivan Ristic & Assistant Coach Ignacio Milla are impressed with the dedication and hard work put in by the ladies this season. They are determined to make it to the National Tournament this year and are extremely proud of what their team has done thus far.

 

UPCOMING EVENTS

The Lady Eagles face off against Friend University tonight in Wichita, Kansas & Southwestern College October the 15th for Senior Night.
