Oklahoma Wesleyan University Charlie and Julie Daniels Honored for Decades of Service

Few people have spent as much time in service to their community as Charlie and Julie Daniels, the recipients of the 2022 President’s Award.

Since they returned to Bartlesville in the late 1980s, the Daniels have served in a variety of organizations in the area and have been steady supporters of the mission of Oklahoma Wesleyan University for more than 20 years.

The Daniels believe deeply in the value of education, dedicating years of their lives to serving in different capacities. Charlie spent 8 years as a member of the Bartlesville School Board, while Julie spent 8 years on city council. They boosted choirs and parent support groups, served as leaders of the OK Mozart festival for a decade, and helped build a Boys & Girls Club. Today, Julie serves as a state senator, supporting legislation that benefits Oklahoma Wesleyan and other schools around the state.

“The Daniels have supported OKWU for at least the past 20 years,” said David Preston, OKWU’s Executive Director of Development. “They were instrumental in funding the OKWU Soccer Complex, to the extent that a plaque hangs at the entrance to acknowledge their gift.”

They have also been supporters of the annual Foster Bonanza, an event that raises money for OKWU’s annual fund. They were presented with their award at this year’s Foster Bonanza.

The Daniels have dedicated years of their lives to volunteerism and quality education, and it is impossible to accurately quantify the number of lives those hours have impacted.

Congratulations to Charlie and Julie Daniels, the 2022 recipients of the President’s Award!
